This is a true story.
In class teacher asked pupils to draw a picture to confirm their understanding of
a topic being taught -Division or sharing.
Going around the room to observe and discuss their work one boy was asked about his
drawing. “It’s wafers for the Africans” he explained.
“Wafers for the Africans?” queried the teacher, looking a little puzzled.
The support assistant whispered “They’ve just come from an RE lesson and have been
learning about communion. He means the communion wafers.”
The teacher was still puzzled and repeated “Communion wafers for the Africans?”
The support worker looked up and again whispered “ No. Not for the Africans he means
The pupil earned himself a merit mark, not necessarily for his work but for making
his teacher chuckle.
